CGIA Bowling Night
Posted on Jan 11th, 2009

With the cold and dreary weather outside, what a great time to look for something to do inside! Coming soon is the Annual Coventry Gardens Neighborhood Bowling Night.  This year the event will take place on Friday, March 6 at MerriBowl Lanes.  This event is a called a fundraiser, but really it’s much more.  It’s a time for neighbors to come together for fun, laughs and luck in winning prizes, all in the name of improving our park.  You don’t have to be a good bowler to have fun. The event is run similar to a league in organization, but that’s where the similarities stop.  Those bowling a 51 (actual score from last year) have just as much chance to win the prizes, and laugh about their “form”, as those bowling a 300.  In fact, we play “Nine Pin No-Tap” which counts nine pins down as a strike!

Registration is at 9: 30 pm at MerriBowl Lanes on 5 Mile.  Bowling starts at 9:45 pm.  The cost is $15/person ($30/couple) and a bottle of wine or liquor to go in gift baskets to be raffled.  In years past some bowlers have created and donated their own original gift baskets to raffle, which is always appreciated.  The cost includes three games but not shoes.  Shoes are $1.29 extra.  Tickets for a 50/50 raffle and mystery games/gift baskets will be sold.  Money and basket donations are due the Monday before the event.  Call Stephanie at 425-2212 to reserve a spot or for more information.  Last year we had 64 bowlers!  Let’s try to beat that number this year.  Invite your friends, come up with your own foursome, encourage your neighbors!
